Architecture taught her the rules. Art lets her bend them.
Originally from New Jersey, Nikki Galapon studied at the Virginia Tech School of Architecture + Design and received her Master of Architecture from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 1994. She worked for many years as an architectural designer in Washington, DC and Las Vegas before moving to Virginia in 2006 to pursue a career as a visual artist.
Her work ranges from vibrant, textured abstract paintings to detailed drawings of geometric constructions. It often starts with a system or a set of rules and evolves as she tries new combinations of materials and subjects.
